Wheeled Robot Dog for Inspection and R&D

AgiBot D1 Ultra-W is a wheeled robot dog for scientific research, educational tasks, and developing custom solutions. With a weight of 22 kg, the robot can transport up to 5 kg of load, reach speeds of up to 3.7 m/s, and cover up to 9 km on a single charge. Thanks to its wheeled kinematics, the platform easily overcomes steps and uneven terrain, and its IP54-rated body is protected from dirt and water.

Main Advantages of AgiBot D1 Ultra-W

  • Fast movement and passability on difficult sections. The wheeled robot dog combines efficient movement on flat surfaces with the ability to overcome steps and irregularities. The maximum speed is up to 3.7 m/s.
  • Increased range of movement. The range of AgiBot D1 Ultra-W is up to 9 km, allowing the robot to be used on long routes without frequent stops.
  • Ability to install additional equipment. The useful load is up to 5 kg. Cameras, sensors, computing modules, and other equipment can be placed on the body within the allowable weight.
  • Overcoming routes with height differences. The robot can climb consecutive steps up to 16 cm high. The maximum claimed height for overcoming a single obstacle is up to 60 cm.
  • Powerful joint mechanisms for active maneuvers. The peak torque is up to 48 Nm, providing the necessary reserve during movement on uneven surfaces and working with loads.
  • Opportunities for custom software development. The SDK provides access to motion control, robot status, IMU data, and video stream. The robot model and simulation interfaces are available for testing custom algorithms.

Design of AgiBot D1 Ultra-W

AgiBot D1 Ultra-W is equipped with wheels that combine efficient movement on flat surfaces with the ability to change limb positions on uneven sections. This design is suitable for long corridors, warehouses, laboratories, production facilities, and routes with height differences. The number of degrees of freedom for Ultra-W is 16 DOF in total, with 4 per leg.

Speed and Overcoming Difficult Sections

The maximum speed of AgiBot D1 Ultra-W is up to 3.7 m/s. The robot can climb consecutive steps up to 16 cm high, work on slopes of about 30° in standard mode, and up to 40° in extreme conditions. The propulsion system supports jumps with a lift-off from the surface of up to 35 cm. The separately stated maximum height for overcoming obstacles is up to 60 cm — this parameter should not be equated with the allowable step height.

Connecting External Equipment

To connect additional equipment, AgiBot D1 Ultra-W is equipped with an Ethernet network port, two USB Type-A connectors, two Power Ports, as well as SBUS and UART interfaces. The RJ45 network connector provides data transfer speeds of up to 1000 Mbps. A separate 12 V output with a power of up to 36 W and a BAT output with a power of up to 100 W are provided for powering external modules, allowing the connection of cameras, sensors, and other components with corresponding power consumption requirements.

Passability and Drive System

The maximum speed of D1 Ultra-W is 3.7 m/s. The platform can consecutively overcome steps up to 16 cm high, tackle slopes at an angle of 30°, and perform jumps with a lift-off from the surface of up to 35 cm. The maximum height for overcoming individual obstacles reaches 60 cm.

High maneuverability is ensured by active kinematics: the peak joint torque is 48 Nm, and the amplitude of their movement covers ranges from −28° to 28° for the body, from −170° to 66° for the thigh, and from 35° to 156° for the lower leg. This allows the robot to effectively stabilize its body position and navigate complex route sections.

Hardware Interfaces and Secondary Development

AgiBot D1 Ultra-W supports an SDK with access to high-level motion control, robot status, IMU data, joint mechanism status, and video stream. Data exchange with the platform is possible via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. For algorithm development and preliminary testing, the robot model and simulation interfaces, including support for NVIDIA Isaac Sim, are available.

Applications of AgiBot D1 Ultra-W

  • Industrial Inspection. The robot dog effectively performs tasks on regular routes within enterprises with flat surfaces. The camera and real-time video stream transmission allow for remote inspection of equipment and technological areas.
  • Security and Patrol. The robot dog can move along pre-set trajectories and transmit a video signal to the operator. The level of autonomy during patrolling depends on the software settings and the presence of additional modules.
  • Scientific Research and Development (R&D). The presence of an SDK, an inertial module (IMU), and direct access to control systems provides the necessary basis for testing mobility algorithms, working with drives, and processing telemetry.
  • Robotics Education. The Ultra-W robot dog can be integrated into the educational process of universities and research laboratories to study mobile robotics, control algorithms, computer modeling, and working with hardware interfaces.
  • Sensor Connection. Ethernet, USB ports, and power outputs are designed for integrating external equipment. The compatibility of additional modules (LiDAR, depth cameras, RTK receivers, or mobile communication systems) is specified for a specific configuration before ordering.
