Robot Dog for Remote Tasks and Demonstrations

AgiBot D1 Pro is a robot dog that performs monitoring, patrolling, and remote control tasks. The model carries up to 5 kg of load, reaches speeds of up to 3.5 m/s, and climbs steps up to 16 cm high. Thanks to 12 actuators (up to 48 N·m) and reinforcement learning algorithms, the robot adapts to complex terrains and maintains balance. The autonomy reserve is 1–2 hours, and a camera with real-time streaming is provided for visual control.

Main Advantages of AgiBot D1 Pro

  • Fast movement between route points. The maximum speed of AgiBot D1 Pro is up to 3.5 m/s. This is a peak indicator, not a constant operating mode.
  • Flexible control of each leg's movement. The robot has 12 degrees of freedom — 3 DOF per leg — and 12 joint mechanisms. This kinematics allows for controlling gait, body position, and special movements.
  • High torque for active maneuvers. The maximum torque of one joint is up to 48 N·m. This reserve is needed when moving over uneven surfaces and performing dynamic maneuvers.
  • Stable movement on different surfaces. Gait control based on RL helps the robot adapt its movement, maintain balance, and compensate for external disturbances. This function is responsible for movement stabilization and is not an autonomous navigation or SLAM system.
  • Passability on routes with height differences. The robot climbs consecutive steps up to 16 cm high and moves on slopes with a maximum angle of up to 40°.
  • Ability to perform dynamic jumps. The motor system supports forward and upward jumps with a surface clearance of up to 35 cm. This indicator does not mean the permissible height of a regular step.
  • Remote observation during movement. The standard camera supports real-time image transmission and has DFOV 122°, HFOV 111°, and VFOV 70° viewing angles.
  • Faster robot preparation for launch. Dual encoder control does not require standard zero position calibration before each launch, reducing the number of preparatory operations.

Kinematics and Movement Stabilization

AgiBot D1 Pro has 12 degrees of freedom — 3 DOF per leg. This kinematic scheme allows separate control of limb positions, body height and tilt, as well as performing various types of gaits and dynamic movements. Gait control based on reinforcement learning helps the robot adapt to uneven surfaces, maintain balance, and compensate for external disturbances.

Overcoming Slopes and Heights

AgiBot D1 Pro climbs consecutive steps up to 16 cm high and is designed to move on slopes with a maximum angle of up to 40°. The motor system also supports forward and upward jumps with a surface clearance of up to 35 cm.

Joint System and Movement Control

The design uses 12 precision joint mechanisms with a maximum torque of up to 48 N·m. Dual encoder control monitors joint positions and does not require standard zero position calibration before each launch. The joint movement range is −28°…28° for the body, −170°…66° for the thigh, and 35°…156° for the lower leg. This mobility is used for changing body position, turns, jumps, and other standard movements.

Camera and Remote Control

The standard camera has DFOV 122°, HFOV 111°, and VFOV 70° viewing angles and supports real-time image transmission. The IMU provides data on body position and movement necessary for stabilization systems. Control is also available via a manual remote. Standard modes include standing, lying position, height and tilt adjustment, horizontal turns, and special dynamic movements.

Applications of AgiBot D1 Pro

  • Demonstration projects. Jumps, turns, body position adjustments, and other standard actions can be showcased at exhibitions, presentations, and technological events.
  • Remote visual control. The camera and image transmission allow the operator to monitor the route from the remote during movement.
  • Patrol routes under operator control. AGIBOT includes security patrol in the D1 series scenarios. For D1 Pro, this should not be called autonomous patrolling, as secondary development and standard expansion interfaces are absent.
  • Industrial inspection. The manufacturer also lists industrial inspection among the D1 robots' scenarios. In the basic configuration, D1 Pro relies on the standard camera and remote control, without LiDAR, RTK, or specialized measuring sensors.
  • Mobility testing. Steps, slopes, jumps, and active balancing allow demonstrating the operation of quadruped kinematics on routes with varying terrain.
  • Educational demonstrations. D1 Pro can be shown as an example of quadruped robotics and gait control systems. For working with its own SDK and hardware extensions, the manufacturer offers D1 Edu.

Tips for Selection and Application

  • Determine the required work format. If standard movements, remote control, and video streaming are needed, D1 Pro fits this scenario; for its own SDK, it should be compared with D1 Edu.
  • Check the route. Match the step height, slope angle, and surface type with the parameters of the specific work area.
  • Consider autonomy. For longer routes, plan the cycle considering 1–2 hours of operation and a range of 6 ± 1 km.
  • Check the load weight. The effective payload is 5 kg and is not intended for carrying a person.
  • Verify the package contents. Before placing an order, check the current package, charging equipment, and warranty conditions.
