The humanoid robot Unitree G1 Edu Pro B-U10 is a human-like scientific and educational platform designed for laboratory experiments and control system testing, featuring 37 degrees of freedom and mechanical hands Dex3-1. The device is based on the G1 Edu Standard modification, and its main feature is two three-fingered hands with tactile feedback. Integrated 33 touch sensors on each hand allow the robot to carefully manipulate objects of varying density.

Features of the Unitree G1 Edu Pro B-U10 Model

  • Joint Drives and Motors. The joints are equipped with high-speed synchronous motors with permanent magnets (PMSM) and low inertia of the inner rotor. The motor design ensures stable heat dissipation and improved response. The maximum torque of the knee joint reaches 120 N·m.
  • Dex3-1 Manipulator Hands. The Pro B-U10 modification is equipped with two three-fingered hands Dex3-1 with dynamic force control. Each hand has 33 tactile sensors to provide precise feedback when interacting with objects. The thumb of the manipulator has 3 active degrees of freedom, while the index and middle fingers have 2 active degrees of freedom each.
  • 360-Degree View System and Sensors. The robot performs 360-degree obstacle detection using a three-dimensional lidar and a depth camera. For spatial orientation, the LIVOX-MID360 lidar and Intel RealSense D435i depth camera are used. The design includes an array of 4 microphones with noise cancellation and echo compensation, as well as a 5W stereo speaker.
  • Cable Routing. All electrical cables are routed inside the hollow joints of the structure, so the device has no external wiring.
  • Power Supply and Autonomy. The system operates on a quick-release lithium battery with 13 series-connected cells with a capacity of 9000 mAh. The battery provides approximately 2 hours of autonomous operation.
  • Computing Modules and Development. The basic computing power is provided by an 8-core high-performance central processor. The platform supports the installation of additional high-performance computing modules, such as the NVIDIA Jetson Orin series or other compatible solutions. Full support for secondary development is provided to adapt the device to individual research tasks.

Functionality of the Model

  • Precise Manipulation and Interaction with Objects. The robot performs complex operations of grabbing and holding objects of various shapes thanks to the work of three-fingered hands. The device can dynamically adjust the gripping force of the fingers using the integrated force control mechanism. The system analyzes the mechanical pressure force upon contact with objects using data from the array of tactile sensors on each palm.
  • Movement and Spatial Coordination. The platform performs dynamic walking and running, reaching a movement speed of up to 2 m/s. The design ensures natural movements and high maneuverability of the limbs due to the work of joints with 37 degrees of freedom. The joint motors instantly respond to changes in body position, generating high torque for stabilization and balance maintenance.
  • Sensor Perception and Route Planning. The robot detects obstacles and scans the surrounding space in a 360° range in real-time. The device analyzes the surface relief and distance to physical objects for safe navigation using a combination of a laser rangefinder and a depth camera.
  • Data Processing and Software Adaptation. The robot performs local computations on the base processor and also supports working with additional high-performance modules for running artificial intelligence algorithms. The platform allows for secondary development, enabling the programming of new behavior scenarios for specific tasks.
  • Voice and Sound Support. The robot perceives sound signals and voice commands thanks to the built-in microphone array, which automatically filters out background noise and echoes. The device can play audio messages or responses using the integrated stereo system.
