Formlabs Tough 1500 Resin V2 Cartridge for Form Studio 1, 1 L — a resilient engineering photopolymer resin for 3D printing functional parts, prototypes, and manufacturing equipment. The material combines rigidity, plasticity, and impact resistance, and its mechanical behavior is close to polypropylene (PP).

Balance of Strength and Plasticity

Tough 1500 Resin V2 is designed for parts that need to withstand impacts, bending, and local deformations without brittle failure. The elongation at break is 155%, the tensile modulus is 1460 MPa, and the tensile strength is 34 MPa.

The impact toughness by the Notched Izod method is 42 J/m, and the heat deflection temperature is 66 °C at 0.45 MPa load.

This combination of properties is suitable for parts that require both rigidity and the ability to deform under load without brittle failure.

Suitable Applications for Tough 1500 Resin V2

The material can be used for:

• functional prototypes;
• impact-resistant fixtures and manufacturing equipment;
• housings with latches and threaded fasteners;
• flexible mechanisms, clips, and snaps;
• parts that need to withstand repeated deformations.

Tough 1500 Resin V2 withstands 8000 cycles of Ross Flexing Fatigue, making the material suitable for elements with repeated bending.

Printing Tough 1500 Resin V2 on Form Studio 1

On Form Studio 1, a profile with a layer thickness of 100 µm is provided for Tough 1500 Resin V2.

Unlike Alpha Resins, this material requires a Form Studio 1 Resin Tank Pro. The standard Resin Tank is not used for Tough 1500 Resin V2 because the material's components can damage its film.

The compatibility of Tough 1500 Resin V2 with Form Studio 1 and the need to use the Resin Tank Pro are provided for this material in the Form Studio 1 system.

Post-Processing

After printing, parts need to be washed to remove residual uncured resin, followed by final curing. Isopropyl alcohol or a compatible ether solution can be used for washing Tough 1500 Resin V2. Formlabs Resin Washing Solution is not compatible with this material.

In Form Studio Wash+Cure, Tough 1500 Resin V2 fully cures in approximately 30 minutes without additional heating.
