Alpha Model Resin Formlabs with a layer thickness of 30/50 microns for Form Studio 1

Formlabs Alpha Model Resin Cartridge for Form Studio 1, 1 L — a gray photopolymer resin from the Alpha Resins line, specifically developed for the Form Studio 1 platform. The material works with individual PreForm profiles for printing with a small layer thickness and is part of the standard set of materials supported by this printer.

Alpha Model Resin Printing Profiles

For Alpha Model in PreForm, two layer thickness settings are provided — 30 microns and 50 microns. These are the smallest values among the Alpha Resins profiles specified for Form Studio 1 at the time of launch.

This choice of profiles allows for working with a small step along the Z-axis, which is important for tasks requiring more precise reproduction of geometry in height.

Physical Parameters of the Material

Alpha Model Resin V1 has a density of 1.08 g/cm³ and a dynamic viscosity of 650 cP at 25 °C. The material is supplied in liquid form and has a gray color.

Operation in Form Studio 1

Alpha Model Resin is used with the standard Form Studio 1 Resin Tank, compatible with all Alpha Resins. The Resin Tank Pro is not required for this material.

During printing, Form Studio 1 determines the resin consumption by the printed layers and records information about the used material in the cartridge.

Alpha Model belongs to the materials specifically created for Form Studio 1. Alpha Resins are not compatible with Form 4/4B and Form 4L/4BL.

Post-Processing and Safe Use

Parts made from Alpha Model Resin can be washed using the Formlabs Resin Washing Solution. For Alpha Resins in Form Studio Wash+Cure, the basic cycle is 5 minutes of washing and 5 minutes of curing. After printing, Form Studio 1 also displays the recommended post-processing time for a specific task.

The Alpha Resins line uses components with low odor. When in contact with liquid resin, it is recommended to work in protective gloves and follow the safety data sheet requirements.

When using Form Studio 1 together with Alpha Resins and VOC Extractor, the system is certified UL GREENGUARD Gold for low chemical emissions.
