Unitree A2-W Standard Wheeled Quadruped Robot for Cargo Transport and Terrain Inspection
Unitree A2-W Standard is an industrial wheeled quadruped robot designed for transporting equipment, inspecting large areas, and operating on rough terrains, with 16 degrees of freedom, a lidar, and an HD camera. The wheels on the controlled limbs ensure fast movement on solid surfaces, overcoming steps, and moving on slopes. Two batteries support hot swapping, and built-in interfaces allow for connecting external equipment.
Features of Unitree A2-W Standard
- 16 motorized degrees of freedom. The drive system provides control over limb positions and wheeled movement. The robot can adapt its body position to uneven surfaces and move across rough terrains.
- Wheel design on limbs for rough terrain. The working speed is 0–3 m/s, with a maximum of approximately 6 m/s. The platform can overcome steps up to 30 cm high, slopes of approximately 45°, and obstacles approximately 0.5–1 m high.
- Cargo transport during movement. The recommended load during continuous movement is approximately 25 kg, and under optimal conditions, it can reach approximately 35 kg. The maximum load in a stationary state is approximately 100 kg.
- Two hot-swappable batteries. The parallel power system allows for replacing one battery without turning off the robot. Without load, the platform operates for over 3.5 hours and covers approximately 35 km, while with a 25 kg load, it operates for over 1.5 hours and covers approximately 15 km.
- Computing system for secondary development. The standard equipment includes an 8-core processor for platform functions and an Intel Core i7 for user applications. RS485, CAN, Gigabit Ethernet, and USB Type-C interfaces allow for connecting external modules and integrating the robot into specialized systems.
Functional Capabilities
- Transporting equipment and materials. The platform can transport loads across enterprises, parks, and other large objects with solid or uneven surfaces.
- Object inspection. The lidar provides spatial perception of the environment, and the HD camera captures visual information in the direction of inspection.
- Operation in a wide temperature range. The operating temperature range from −20 °C to 55 °C and IP56 protection rating allow the platform to be used in various industrial environments, considering the established limitations.
- Connecting external equipment. Available data transmission interfaces and 12 V, 24 V, and BAT power outputs can be used to integrate compatible sensors, computing modules, and other equipment.
- Development of custom software. The platform supports secondary development and has a separate Intel Core i7 processor for running user applications. Wireless update support allows for receiving new software versions.
Applications
- Industrial inspection. Surveying production areas, infrastructure, and objects where remote inspection of areas and infrastructure is required.
- Logistics in parks and large objects. Transporting equipment, tools, and materials between remote work zones.
- Emergency and rescue operations. Delivering cargo and inspecting areas with rough terrain where human presence may be difficult.

Operational Safety
During operation, it is recommended to maintain a safe distance and consider the platform's weight, drive power, and the possibility of sudden movements. The robot should be used in a prepared work area and not be subjected to dangerous modifications or used in a way that could pose a threat to people or property. Actual speed, autonomy, load, and passability indicators may vary depending on working conditions and configuration.
