The robot's 8-core processor handles the main system processes, while the additional module takes on resource-intensive computations necessary for more complex autonomous scenarios.

Sensors and Intelligent Functions

Unitree As2-W Edu Smart is equipped with a 64–128-line LiDAR, an HD camera, and a depth camera for navigation, mapping, computer vision, and obstacle detection. A microphone array, speaker, and front lighting complement the sensor suite.

The platform supports the development of custom software, simulation in NVIDIA Isaac Sim, working with applications through UniStore, and Smart OTA updates. The ISS 3.0 Intelligent Follow function provides automatic operator following and route adjustment during movement.

Wheeled Design and 16 Degrees of Freedom

Unitree As2-W Edu Smart has 16 joint drives and wheels. The drives feature low-inertia high-speed synchronous motors with permanent magnets and an internal rotor. The maximum torque is about 95 Nm. Dual encoders control the position of the drives. Local air cooling is provided for heat dissipation. Industrial cross-roller bearings are installed in the joint nodes.

Mobility and Load Capacity

Unitree As2-W Edu Smart reaches a working speed of up to 3.7 m/s, with a peak speed of about 6 m/s. The robot can overcome slopes up to 45°, steps up to 30 cm high, and obstacles approximately 0.4–0.8 m. The combination of wheels and jointed limbs ensures fast movement on flat surfaces and adaptation to complex terrain. The allowable load during prolonged movement is about 16 kg, allowing the installation of additional sensors, cameras, and computational modules. In a stationary position, the robot can withstand a load of about 150 kg.

Power and Connectivity

Unitree As2-W Edu Smart is equipped with a Long-Endurance battery with a capacity of 15,000 mAh. Without additional load, the robot operates for about 3 hours and covers up to 30 km, while with a load of 16 kg, it operates for over 2 hours and about 25 km. For charging, a fast charger 50.4 V / 7.4 A and a docking station are included in the Edu Smart package. For connecting external equipment, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, Gigabit Ethernet, SBUS, and BAT power output are supported. GPS and 4G are available only in the mainland China version and are disabled by default.

The body is made of aluminum alloy and high-strength engineering plastic. The weight of Unitree As2-W Edu Smart with the battery is about 25 kg.
