Wheeled Quadruped Robot Unitree A2-W Pro for Industrial Inspection and Logistics
Unitree A2-W Pro is an industrial wheeled robot designed for object inspection, logistics over large areas, and emergency rescue operations, with 16 drives, a dual-sided perception system based on two lidars, and a payload capacity during movement of approximately 25 kg. The wheeled design provides a working speed of up to 3 m/s, a maximum speed of approximately 6 m/s, the ability to overcome steps up to 30 cm high and slopes of about 45°, and two batteries support hot swapping without stopping the task.
Features of Unitree A2-W Pro
- 16 motorized degrees of freedom. Each of the four limbs has three joint drives and a separate wheel drive. This structure combines fast wheel movement with active control of the body and limb positions on uneven surfaces.
- Dual-sided perception system. The Pro configuration is equipped with two industrial lidars located at the front and back, one high-resolution camera, and a front illuminator. The two lidars provide spatial perception at the front and back, while the camera and front illuminator allow for obtaining visual data and detecting objects ahead.
- Positioning and mobile communication tools. The robot is equipped with a wireless vector guidance module, GPS, and 4G communication. This expands the capabilities of positioning, guidance, and data transmission during work over large areas.
- Dual power system with hot swapping. Two parallel-connected batteries can be replaced alternately without turning off the robot and without interrupting the current task. The total energy capacity of the two batteries is 907.2 Wh.
- Industrial design for challenging conditions. The drives develop a maximum torque of approximately 180 Nm, and the joints are equipped with industrial-grade cross-roller bearings and dual encoders. The protection level of different units corresponds to the class from IP56 to IP67, and the main components have a protection level of IP67.

Functional Capabilities
- Cargo transportation. The robot can continuously move with a load of approximately 25 kg, and under favorable conditions, this figure can reach approximately 35 kg.
- Data collection during inspection. Two lidars and a camera allow for obtaining spatial and visual data for custom inspection systems and area monitoring.
- Connecting external equipment. RS485, CAN, Gigabit Ethernet, and USB 3.0 Type-C interfaces allow for connecting sensors, computing modules, and other equipment according to project requirements.
- Development of custom programs. The platform supports secondary development and has a separate Intel Core i7 processor for running user software.

- Industrial inspection. Inspection of areas, production facilities, and infrastructure with the collection of spatial and visual data.
- Logistics over large areas. Transportation of equipment, materials, and other cargo in parks, industrial sites, and between remote areas.
- Emergency rescue operations. Delivery of equipment and remote inspection of areas that may be difficult for humans to access.
- Development and integration of robotic systems. Creation and testing of custom control algorithms, perception systems, and applied robotic solutions.
Operational Safety
Unitree A2-W Pro has a complex mechanical design and powerful drives, so it is necessary to constantly maintain a safe distance from the robot during operation. Dangerous modifications and operation of the robot in a way that may pose a threat to people or property are not allowed.
