Quadruped Robotic Platform Unitree As2 Edu-U1 for Research, Development, and Educational Projects
Robo-dog Unitree As2 Edu-U1 is a quadruped robotic platform designed for conducting applied engineering research and designing autonomous systems, with an integrated industrial LiDAR for creating three-dimensional maps of the environment, an onboard NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano module with a performance of 40 TOPS, and a high-capacity battery of 15000 mAh. The equipment provides high-speed data processing directly onboard, allowing for the creation of fully autonomous machine behavior scenarios in real and simulated environments. Thanks to its open architecture and extended configuration, the platform serves as a ready tool for deploying complex robotic projects.
Key Features
- Kinematic Freedom 12 DoF. The robot is equipped with 12 independent joint drives that ensure precise body balancing and allow for complex maneuvers in space.
- Drive Power 90 N·m. High-torque joint motors guarantee instant response to control commands and resistance to critical mechanical loads.
- Onboard Computing NVIDIA Orin Nano. The presence of a docking station with a performance of 40 TOPS provides hardware resources for local data processing without communication delays.
- Laser Scanning. An industrial LiDAR with a 64–128 line laser continuously captures the geometry of the surroundings over long distances, forming an accurate digital basis for navigation algorithms.
- Battery Energy Capacity. A high-capacity lithium battery of 15000 mAh ensures prolonged power supply to mechanisms and additional computing boards during missions.
- Dual Joint Encoding. The system of integrated dual encoders controls the precise angle of each joint, ensuring perfect movement coordination.
- High-Speed Wireless Peripherals. Built-in Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 modules guarantee stable transmission of telemetry and high-definition video stream from the HD camera to a remote control or server.
- All-Season Temperature Range. The ability to operate within the range of -20°C to 50°C allows the deployment of the robotic platform both in industrial workshops and outdoors in winter.
Functionality
- High-Speed Area Patrolling. The dynamics of movement allow the robot to quickly move between objects, chase moving targets, or rapidly cover large areas during security missions.
- Ability to Transport Heavy Engineering Equipment. Users can integrate third-party devices (LiDARs, gas analyzers, multispectral cameras, or mechanical manipulators) onto the platform's back for data collection on the move without losing chassis stability.
- Overcoming Vertical and Inclined Obstacles. The robot can independently climb industrial stairs, step over construction debris, rubble, and curbs, and overcome steep slopes where wheeled equipment would get stuck.
- Performing Long Autonomous Missions. The energy system allows programming long cycles of continuous operation, such as multi-hour factory tours or field monitoring without operator intervention for battery replacement.
- Operation in Rain and Dusty Environments. Thanks to its protected casing, the device can be sent on tasks during precipitation, in dirty areas, mines, or smoky industrial locations without risking damage to the internal electronics.
