PETG plastic KLEMA for high-speed 3D printing of models and parts with a matte surface
PETG Matte HS plastic KLEMA 1.75 mm 1 kg Grey is a filament for high-speed FDM 3D printing of models, body parts, prototypes, and series of identical products with a matte surface. The material is designed for printing at speeds up to 400 mm/s and is suitable for tasks where it is necessary to reduce manufacturing time without using a glossy PETG finish.
Advantages of the material
- Matte surface of finished products. PETG Matte HS forms a surface with a subdued gloss, so printed models and parts have a more restrained visual appearance. This is especially appropriate for cases, decorative elements, layouts, and presentation models.
- Printing at speeds up to 400 mm/s. The material is adapted to high-speed FDM printing modes. On compatible equipment, this allows for faster production of large models, prototypes, and batches of identical parts.
- Rigidity when bending. The flexural modulus is 2,650 MPa, and the flexural strength is 75 MPa. This combination of characteristics is suitable for body and structural elements that require maintaining a given shape.
- Resistance to thermal deformation under load. The heat distortion temperature is 70 °C under a load of 0.45 MPa. This indicator helps to assess the suitability of the material for parts that may simultaneously experience heating and mechanical load.
Features of working with PETG Matte HS
- Matte surface texture. PETG Matte HS forms a characteristic subdued finish without the need for additional mechanical processing to create a matte effect. The final appearance of the surface also depends on the printing parameters.
- Maximum speed depends on the printer's capabilities. Values up to 400 mm/s should be considered as the upper limit of the recommended range, not as a mandatory mode. For stable high-speed printing, the printer must ensure the appropriate performance of the hotend, precise filament feeding, and sufficient dynamic movement.
- Surface quality is related to the printing mode. For parts where a uniform matte appearance is particularly important, speed, temperature, and cooling should be selected considering the model's geometry and equipment capabilities.
- HDT is not the maximum operating temperature. The value of 70 °C is obtained under a load of 0.45 MPa and characterizes the thermal deformation of the tested sample. It should not be interpreted as the guaranteed temperature for long-term operation of the finished FDM part.
Features of 3D printing with PETG Matte HS
For printing, a textured PEI plate with a temperature of 70–80 °C is recommended. Additional processing of the working surface is not required.
The nozzle temperature is 240–260 °C, and the printing speed is up to 400 mm/s. The specific combination of temperature and speed should be selected according to the extrusion system's performance, model size, and required surface quality.
During printing, the cooling fan should be on. For models that require supports, PVA can be used.
Recommendations for drying and storage
For drying PETG Matte HS, a temperature of 60–65 °C is recommended. The drying duration depends on how much moisture the filament has absorbed and the type of drying equipment.
Between printing sessions, the spool should be protected from prolonged contact with humid air. A hermetic package or a container with a desiccant is suitable for this purpose.
Application areas
- Cases and external panels. Covers, housings, cladding elements, and other parts where a matte surface is important.
- Presentation and demonstration models. Product layouts, conceptual models, and samples where appearance is part of the result.
- Figurines and decorative objects. Statuettes, accessories, decorative elements, and models with complex geometry.
- Fast production of series of parts. Identical components and small batches of products where reducing the overall printing time is important.
- Functional prototypes. Body and structural samples for checking geometry, layout, fit, and mutual arrangement of parts.
