Ortur Laser Master 2 S2 5W Laser Engraver-Cutter
Ortur Laser Master 2 S2 with the LU2-4-SF module is a desktop diode laser machine with a working area of 390 × 410 mm, designed for precise engraving and contour cutting of sheet materials: wood, plywood, cardboard, leather, dark acrylic, etc. The engraver-cutter is equipped with a 32-bit OLM-PRO-V1.2 control board based on the ESP32 microcontroller, providing a movement speed of up to 5000 mm/min and stable data exchange. Thanks to the optical power of the laser module 4.5–5.5 W and the reduced size of the light spot 0.07 × 0.06 mm, the machine allows for fine detail reproduction, precise fonts, and layout elements.
Design and Operating Characteristics
- Laser Module LU2-4-SF: The module's focal distance is fixed at 50 mm from the radiator to the material. The reduced laser spot ensures high energy density at the focus point, optimized for detailed engraving and clean cutting of thin materials.
- Mechanics and Precision: The frame is made of aluminum profile with acrylic elements. The mechanical precision of movement along the X and Y axes is 12.5 µm. The design uses NEMA 17 stepper motors.
- Safety Systems: The model provides 5 levels of hardware and software protection:
- Tilt and unwanted movement control using an accelerometer.
- Control of USB connection presence and stability.
- Limitation of continuous laser operation time — protection against short circuits.
- Protection of the active module position.
- Voltage and current monitoring with automatic power shutdown in case of deviations.

- LaserGRBL: Free software for Windows OS. Recommended version — 4.9.x or newer.
- LightBurn: Full-featured cross-platform software for Windows, macOS, and Linux with advanced layer processing and layout preparation capabilities.
- Connection: Via USB interface. In modern Windows 10, macOS, and Linux OS, it works without installing additional drivers; for older versions of Windows XP, 7, and 8, a corresponding USB driver is required. Popular graphic formats are supported: JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, SVG, and others.
Material Processing:
- Engraving: Wood, bamboo, MDF, plywood, paper, cardboard, leather, dark acrylic, stone, glass, anodized aluminum, painted and powder-coated metal. Surface marking on stainless steel is possible with the use of special surface preparation agents.
- Cutting: Thin plywood, pine board, paper, cardboard, dark acrylic, leather, felt, and dense fabrics.
Note: The maximum cutting thickness depends on the density, color, and transparency of the material, as well as the speed and number of passes.
