Formlabs Fuse 1 Doser Assembly — a service unit of the material feed system in the SLS printer. It controls the movement of powder from the hopper to the tray, from where the material is further distributed by the recoater over the working area.

Purpose of the Dispenser

During printing, the dispenser regulates the supply of powder material from the hopper before forming a new layer. After dosing, the powder enters the tray and is prepared for further distribution by the recoater. The correct operation of this unit is necessary for the normal execution of the printing process.

When Replacement is Needed

The dispenser is replaced in case of confirmed malfunction or disruption of powder supply. Formlabs notes that a faulty dispenser may hinder the normal operation of the printer. After installing the new unit, a calibration procedure is provided.
