PC Plastic Creatbot for Impact-Resistant and Heat-Resistant Technical Parts
PC Plastic Creatbot 1 kg 1.75 mm Black is a polycarbonate filament for FDM 3D printing of enclosures, brackets, protective elements, and other parts that operate under mechanical and thermal loads. The material combines high impact toughness, rigidity, and heat resistance. High-temperature equipment with nozzle, platform, and chamber heating is required for printing.
Material Advantages
- Resistance to impact and mechanical loads. Tensile strength in the XY direction is 69 MPa, flexural strength is 100 MPa, and impact toughness is 45 kJ/m². This combination of characteristics allows PC to be used for structural parts, protective enclosures, and components that operate under dynamic loads.
- Heat resistance for loaded parts. The Vicat softening temperature is 176 °C, and the deformation temperature under a load of 0.45 MPa is 163 °C. These indicators characterize the material's behavior under simultaneous heating and mechanical load.
- Material rigidity. The Young's modulus in the XY direction is 3900 MPa. Such rigidity is important for enclosures, brackets, and other parts that need to maintain their geometry under mechanical load.
- Chemical resistance. PC is resistant to diluted acids, oils, and alcohols. At the same time, the material is sensitive to strong alkalis, ketones, ethers, and aromatic hydrocarbons, which should be considered when choosing material for parts that come into contact with chemical environments.
- Filament diameter control. The diameter of 1.75 mm is maintained with a tolerance of ±0.03 mm, which limits deviations in the geometry of the filament and contributes to predictable material feed during extrusion.
Features of 3D Printing with PC Creatbot
PC Creatbot requires high operating temperatures. The nozzle temperature is 310–350 °C, the platform temperature is 140–180 °C, and the chamber temperature is 80–150 °C. The recommended printing speed is 30–60 mm/s, and the cooling fan should be turned off.
A heated closed chamber helps maintain a uniform temperature of the part and reduce thermal stresses during layer formation. Rapid cooling of polycarbonate can cause warping and interlayer cracking, so a controlled temperature environment without direct cold air flow is important for this material.
Before printing, it is recommended to dry the filament for 6–8 hours at a temperature of 80–90 °C. Polycarbonate is a hygroscopic material. Moisture accumulated in the filament during printing can cause bubble formation, surface roughness, and deterioration of the mechanical properties of the printed part.
For adhesion of the first layer, you can use a 3D printing spray, a PVP glue stick, or a specialized adhesive for the printing platform.
Storage
Unopened filament is recommended to be stored in a dry, cool place at a temperature of 15–25 °C and relative humidity below 30%, without exposure to direct sunlight. After opening, it is recommended to store the spool in a hermetically sealed package with a desiccant or in a filament dryer with a relative humidity of 10–20%.
Applications
PC Creatbot is suitable for manufacturing:
- functional structural parts;
- enclosures and protective covers;
- brackets;
- automotive components that operate at elevated temperatures;
- sensor enclosures and ventilation ducts;
- junction boxes, connectors, and insulating parts;
- protective elements where impact resistance is important.
