Autonomous 3D Digitization and Reverse Engineering with Creality Sermoon P1
Creality Sermoon P1 is a portable wireless 3D scanner designed for reverse engineering, quality control, industrial design, and object digitization. The device is equipped with a hybrid light source system and a built-in 8-core computational processor. The hardware base supports five scanning modes: three laser and two infrared, and provides the ability to work both autonomously and when connected to a PC.
Advantages and Features
- Autonomy. The built-in computing platform, 6-inch touchscreen, and batteries allow scanning and processing models without external devices.
- Hybrid Optical System. A combination of blue laser and infrared structured light for tasks of varying complexity.
- Accuracy. Measurement indicators ensure result compliance during geometry control.
- Size Range. Digitization of volumetric objects of arbitrary geometric complexity ranging from 5 mm to 4 meters.
- Working with Complex Surfaces. Efficient reading of the geometry of glossy black and metallic parts without using matting sprays. Thanks to the hybrid scanning system, the device adapts to surfaces with high light absorption or mirror reflection, making the digitization process as simple as possible.
- Battery Operation. The design supports hot swapping of two batteries with a capacity of 3300 mAh each.

Laser and Infrared Scanning Technologies
The device operates in five emission modes. The blue laser system consists of three configurations:
- 22 Cross Lines. For covering areas with a frequency of up to 60 or up to 100 FPS and a speed of up to 1,740,000 points/s.
- Autonomous Mode. Thanks to the built-in 8-core Qualcomm processor and 6-inch touchscreen, the scanner operates completely independently. This is an ideal solution for fieldwork or directly near the object. In this mode, data processing is performed on the device, and the capture frequency is up to 60 FPS.
- Workstation Mode. When connected to a PC, the computational load is transferred to the computer's resources. This allows the system to operate at peak power, providing a maximum scanning speed of up to 100 FPS.
- 7 Parallel Lines. For capturing small elements and complex geometric transitions.
- Single Laser Line. For reading holes, grooves, and narrow cavities with a depth-to-diameter ratio of 5:1.

The structured infrared light system provides a capture speed of up to 6,881,000 points/s. The built-in RGB camera with Global Shutter function is responsible for capturing high-quality color textures. The infrared system operates in two modes:
- Close Range Mode. For scanning objects with high detail at a short distance.
- Far Range Mode. For digitizing large objects or scenes with wide coverage.
- Flexibility in Working with Markers. The device supports both marker scanning mode, for achieving the highest possible metrological accuracy on large objects, and markerless scanning by geometry or texture of the object, thanks to advanced tracking algorithms.

Hardware Platform and Interfaces
The built-in unit is based on an 8-core processor at 3.36 GHz and separate coprocessors for image processing. The device contains 24 GB of RAM and a 256 GB storage.
Interaction is carried out through a 6-inch touch display. Data transmission modes:
- Autonomous Mode. Processing cycle by the device's own resources.
- Wireless Mode. Data transmission via Wi-Fi 7.
- Wired Mode. Data transmission via cable.
The device, weighing 830 grams, is equipped with an RGB camera.

Applications
- Reverse Engineering. Creating digital models of parts.
- Quality Control. Comparing point cloud with the original model.
- Automotive Tuning. Designing body and interior components.
- Preservation of Cultural Heritage. Contactless digitization of objects.
- Digital Art. Creating three-dimensional objects for CG and animation.
