Unitree As2 X for Autonomous Patrolling and Working on Difficult Terrain
Robot Dog Unitree As2 X is a quadruped robotic platform for patrolling, transporting equipment, and developing autonomous systems at sites with stairs, slopes, and uneven surfaces. The robot carries about 15 kg while moving, reaches speeds of up to 5 m/s, and operates for over 4 hours without load. Support for secondary development, LiDAR, HD camera, octa-core processor, and IP54 protection allow for the integration of custom algorithms and the use of the platform outside laboratory conditions.
Key Features
- Transport up to 15 kg while moving. The platform can accommodate tools, sensors, measuring instruments, or other compatible equipment. The maximum static load is about 65 kg.
- Operation on routes with difficult terrain. The robot overcomes steps up to 25 cm high and slopes with an angle of approximately 40°. Twelve degrees of freedom and a drive torque of up to 90 Nm ensure controlled movement over uneven surfaces.
- Over 4 hours of operation without load. A 15,000 mAh battery provides a range of approximately 20 km without load. With a 15 kg load, the robot operates for over 2.5 hours and covers about 13 km.
- Speed up to 5 m/s. The platform is suitable for patrolling large premises and areas where speed of route passage is important. The working speed range is 0–3.7 m/s.
- LiDAR and HD camera for environmental perception. Industrial 64–128-line LiDAR and HD camera provide spatial and visual information for perception systems, tracking, and custom algorithms.
- Platform for custom development. Unitree As2 X supports secondary development, connection of additional equipment, and work with simulation models. Manuals for secondary development, robot models, and support for compatible simulation environments are available for the platform. This allows for the creation of custom control, navigation, and interaction algorithms with external systems.
- Operation at temperatures from −20 to 50 °C. IP54 protection limits dust and water splash ingress, allowing the platform to be used not only in laboratories but also at industrial, warehouse, and infrastructure sites.

Functionality
- Transporting loads. Compatible equipment or cargo can be placed on the robot's body. During continuous walking, the declared load is about 15 kg.
- Long routes. Without load, the robot can move continuously for over 4 hours and cover approximately 20 km. With a 15 kg load, the operating time exceeds 2.5 hours, and the range is approximately 13 km.
- Territory patrolling. The movement speed and ability to overcome steps and slopes allow the platform to be used on routes with mixed surfaces and elevation changes.
- Environmental perception. Industrial LiDAR and HD camera transmit spatial and visual data that can be used in custom navigation, observation, and interaction algorithms with objects.
- User tracking. The ISS 3.0 system is designed to determine the user's position and move the robot alongside them.
- Connecting external systems. Gigabit Ethernet, SBUS, and BAT power output are provided for equipment integration. Before installing third-party modules, their electrical and mechanical compatibility must be checked.
- Wireless data transmission. The platform supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. GPS and 4G are also provided, which are disabled by default and activated after user permission.
- Development in a simulation environment. The X configuration supports robot models and interfaces for NVIDIA Isaac Sim and other compatible simulation environments.
- Expanding the computing system. An optional high-performance computing dock can be connected to the robot. It is not included in the basic package.
- Software updates. The platform supports regular remote updates and works with the UniStore ecosystem.
Actual speed, operating time, range, and load capacity may depend on the movement mode, surface, temperature, installed equipment, and other operating conditions. Some features may gradually become available after development and testing are completed.
