Formlabs Fuse 1 Generation Replacement Camera Assembly — a service component of the visual control system of the SLS printer. The built-in camera is directed at the working area and allows for real-time imaging of the printing process. In Fuse 1 Generation printers, the camera is also used by the visual control system to monitor disturbances in the printing zone.

Purpose of the Camera

The camera is located at the top of the printer and observes the working chamber through an optical cassette. The video stream can be displayed on the printer's screen, and the obtained images are used to monitor the printing process and diagnose potential issues.

When Replacement is Needed

The camera is replaced in case of a unit malfunction when it does not provide correct image capture or there are problems with the visual control system. Before replacement, it is advisable to conduct diagnostics, as camera issues may also be related to its connection or optical contamination. Formlabs recommends regular cleaning of the camera lens after every 500 hours of printing, but this is not an interval for replacing the camera itself.
