Enclosed 3D Printer Dowell DM8 Plus

Dowell DM8 Plus 800 × 800 × 800 mm — is an enclosed industrial FDM printer, designed for large-scale prototyping, manufacturing furniture molds, sculptures, and complex engineering components. The presence of a thermally insulated chamber with the ability to heat up to 60 °C ensures a stable temperature environment inside the working area. This prevents sudden temperature fluctuations and material shrinkage when printing large parts. Thanks to the extruder heating up to 380 °C and a high printing speed of up to 500 mm/s, the equipment provides rapid creation of solid 3D models 800 × 800 × 800 mm without the need to divide them into parts and subsequent gluing.

Advantages of the Enclosed Body and Heated Chamber

Working with technical and engineering filaments requires strict microclimate control throughout the entire 3D printing cycle. The enclosed chamber with active heating up to 60 °C solves key technological tasks when working with large objects.

  • Prevention of shrinkage and deformation: controlled temperature in the chamber eliminates thermal shock when applying new layers, ensuring high interlayer adhesion and precise geometry of the product's corners.
  • Expanded range of engineering plastics: the enclosed body allows confident printing of complex-profile parts from thermoplastics with a high shrinkage coefficient, such as ABS, PC, Nylon (PA), ASA, and their composite fillers CF/GF.
  • Protection from external drafts and safety: the enclosed thermal chamber isolates the working volume from room temperature fluctuations and drafts in the workshop, as well as reduces noise levels and retains volatile compounds inside the chamber.

Kinematics and Structural Stability

The Dowell DM Plus series of 3D printers is built on a reinforced aluminum profile base with a thickness of 60 mm, ensuring rigidity and frame stability under intensive loads. High positioning accuracy is achieved through the use of professional mechanical units.

  • XY Axes: implemented on precision linear guides, ensuring geometric stability at speeds up to 500 mm/s.
  • Z Axis: uses 12 mm screw shafts and a stepper motor for precise platform positioning.
  • Quiet operation: thanks to special drivers, the noise level during operation is up to 60 dB, allowing comfortable use of the equipment in production facilities.

Extruder with Heating up to 380 °C

The printer is equipped with an industrial single-stage heating system designed for continuous filament feeding at a flow rate of up to 400 g/h, ensuring stable build speed and uniform wall structure of models.

  • Working temperatures of the extruder: the nozzle heats up to 380 °C, enabling work not only with basic plastics but also with engineering filaments such as nylon PA, carbon fiber CF, glass fiber GF, as well as ASA and PC.
  • Versatility of nozzles: supports diameters of 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mm, allowing flexible balancing between detail and speed of filling the internal volume of the 3D model.

Thermostable Working Platform

The stability of the geometric parameters of the part and reliable adhesion of the first layers is ensured by a glass surface combined with a silicone heating element for quick and even heat distribution.

  • Tempered glass and silicone heating panel: the standard configuration includes a worktable consisting of 6 mm tempered glass and a silicone heating panel. This design ensures quick table heating, stable temperature across the entire surface, perfect flatness, and resistance to deformation. Finished products are easily separated after complete cooling.
  • Working temperatures of the platform: the worktable heats up to 100 °C in the standard version (optionally, heating up to 150 °C can be ordered). This is an important factor for ensuring adhesion and preventing shrinkage when working with engineering plastics such as ABS, Nylon, or PC.

Automation and Control Interface

To ensure stable repeatability of results and high accuracy of each operation, the Dowell DM Plus integrates an extended set of service functions.

  • Automatic leveling: the automatic calibration system over 100 points first detects the four corners and then performs a detailed scan of the table plane. It automatically compensates for irregularities, ensuring perfect flatness before each task.
  • Filament sensor: the system automatically pauses the process if the filament runs out or the thread breaks.
  • Automatic print recovery: after power loss and restoration, it allows resuming work from the stop point.
  • Control monitor: the device is equipped with a 7-inch full-color touchscreen with an intuitive interface. Wi-Fi connection provides convenient file transfer for printing.

Tools for Operational Control and Monitoring

  • Real-time adjustment: the ability to change speed, extrusion parameters, and cooling intensity directly during operation.
  • Process visualization: tracking the print status and temperature change graph in real-time.
  • Working with code: integrated G-code viewer and the ability to edit configuration.
  • Precise tuning: correction of Z-axis offset and access to record history.
  • Safety and retrofitting: the presence of an emergency stop button and a connector for installing an external camera.

What Industrial Parts and Products Can Be Printed

The capabilities of industrial printing in an enclosed chamber are confirmed by practical results in the production of large-scale complex objects. Thanks to stable chamber temperature regulation and the absence of shrinkage, the equipment allows creating massive industrial cases, casting molds, large latches, engineering parts for car tuning, as well as elegant large-scale models and sculptures without the slightest deformation or material delamination.
