Unitree G1-Comp Humanoid Robot for Bipedal Locomotion and Control System Development
Unitree G1-Comp is a bipedal humanoid robot for laboratories, universities, and development teams, designed for creating and testing walking algorithms, balance maintenance, machine vision, and motion control, with 25 degrees of freedom, a D455 depth camera, and a 3D LiDAR. The NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX computing module with a performance of 100 TOPS allows running custom AI models, and secondary development support allows adapting the platform for research and educational projects.
Features of Unitree G1-Comp
- 25 degrees of freedom for coordinated whole-body control. The configuration has 12 degrees of freedom in the legs, 10 in the arms, 1 in the waist joint, and 2 in the head. This kinematic scheme allows independent control of the limbs, torso, and head positions, practicing walking, balance maintenance, and complex motion sequences.
- Wide joint movement ranges. The waist joint rotates around the vertical axis by ±155°, the knee joint bends within 0–165°, and the hip and wrist joints have extended movement ranges in multiple planes. This allows the robot to change the torso position, perform tilts, turns, and high-amplitude movements.
- Powerful joint system for dynamic movements. The maximum torque of the knee drive is 120 N·m, and the maximum load on one arm is approximately 3 kg, depending on its position and degree of extension. Dual encoders ensure stable joint position determination during movements.
- Machine perception of the environment. The Intel RealSense D455 depth camera and 3D LiDAR provide data on the distance, shape, and location of surrounding objects. This is the hardware basis for developing obstacle detection systems, spatial orientation, machine vision, and autonomous control.
- Built-in computing module for AI models. In addition to the octa-core CPU, the G1-Comp is equipped with an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX module with a performance of 100 TOPS. It provides computing power for sensor data processing, machine vision, motion control, and running custom applications.
Functional Capabilities of Unitree G1-Comp
- Development of motion control algorithms. Secondary development support allows creating custom programs for robot control and adjusting its behavior according to the tasks of a research or educational project.
