Nylon CF MonoFilament Plastic with Carbon Fiber for Functional Parts

Nylon CF MonoFilament Plastic 1 kg 1.75 mm Black is a composite filament based on nylon for FDM 3D printing of functional parts, filled with 10% ultra-short carbon fibers. The material has increased strength and rigidity compared to PLA, reduced shrinkage, and geometric stability, making it suitable for products that operate under friction, twisting, bending, or compression.

Material Advantages

  • has increased strength and rigidity compared to PLA;
  • reduced shrinkage helps minimize deformation of products during 3D printing;
  • carbon fibers help reduce cracking and improve material adhesion to the working surface;
  • density of 1.12 g/cm³ allows for the production of relatively lightweight parts;
  • the combination of rigidity and geometric stability is suitable for functional parts that operate under mechanical load.

Mechanical and Operational Properties

Nylon contains 10% ultra-short carbon fibers. The tensile strength is 60 MPa, and the elongation at break is 50%. The modulus of elasticity in tension and bending is 5800 MPa, providing the material with high rigidity and resistance to deformation under load.

The bending strength is 70 MPa. For thin-walled parts, the breaking strength may decrease, while in massive and thick-walled products, it increases. The shrinkage of printed products depends on the orientation of the fibers and layers.

The material density is 1.12 g/cm³. The operating temperature range of finished products is from -30 to +120°C. Water absorption after 24 hours at a temperature of 23°C is 3%.

The content of carbon fibers also gives the material antistatic properties. Nylon-CCF has radio-absorbing and radio-shielding properties due to interaction with electromagnetic waves.

3D Printing Modes

The recommended extruder temperature for Nylon is 260–270°C, the platform temperature is 110–120°C, and the printing speed is 30–60 mm/s. Model blowing is not required. A closed-type 3D printer is used to work with the material.

Due to the content of carbon fibers, Nylon is an abrasive material. For printing, a hardened steel nozzle with a diameter of 0.4 mm or more should be used. A standard brass nozzle wears out significantly faster when working with such filament.

Under certain thermal conditions, heating the material above 85°C can enhance its crystallization and affect the adhesion of the model to the platform. This is especially worth considering when working in a passively heated chamber and selecting the parameters of the first layer according to the specific working surface and equipment.

Drying and Storage

The filament is recommended to be stored in a vacuum or other airtight container to limit moisture absorption from the air.

If bubbles are observed after the material passes through the nozzle and the surface of the extruded plastic becomes rough, the filament is recommended to be dried at a temperature of 60°C for 5–7 hours. The duration of drying may depend on the design and efficiency of the drying equipment.

Applications

Nylon-CCF MonoFilament is suitable for:

  • bearings;
  • gears;
  • bushings;
  • functional parts that operate under friction conditions;
  • parts subjected to twisting;
  • elements that work in bending;
  • parts that experience compression loads.
