Shining 3D FreeScan Combo Wireless is a wireless metrology 3D scanner with a hybrid light source. Cables and applying markers to every part take up time before scanning even begins. Scanner data is transmitted via Wi-Fi 7, so the working area is not limited by a cable. The infrared source scans parts with distinct features without markers on the surface.

Cable-free hybrid light source

The Shining 3D FreeScan Combo Wireless scanner features two light sources: an infrared VCSEL and a blue laser. It inherits the compact design of the FreeScan Combo series and fully transitions to wireless operation. Infrared VCSEL

The infrared source quickly scans parts with distinct features. For such parts, the marker application stage is eliminated, thus shortening scanning preparation. The maximum field of view in this mode is 830 × 700 mm.

Blue laser

The blue laser has very high adaptability to black and reflective surfaces. Such parts are often difficult to scan optically, so this mode expands the range of applications. The maximum field of view of the laser is 580 × 650 mm.

Laser modes and resolution

The scanner has three laser scanning modes for different tasks. Each corresponds to a specific surface type or feature.

• High-speed scanning: a VCSEL-based mode; the number of lines depends on the version and is specified in the specifications table.
• Detailed scanning: a mode with 25 parallel laser lines for capturing small details.
• Deep hole scanning: a mode with a single laser line for narrow depressions.

Resolution ranges from 0.01 ~ 10 mm. A smaller point distance is chosen for small features, and a larger one for large surfaces.

High accuracy on large objects

Built-in video photogrammetry (VPG) is a SHINING 3D technology that verifies markers in real time. Two validated scale bars integrated with this technology are included in the package. They can be used repeatedly, which increases the overall scanning accuracy of large objects.

Wireless operation and power supply

Data transmission goes through Wi-Fi 7, so a cable to the computer is not needed. The wireless connection only transmits data and does not affect scanning accuracy. Power can be supplied in three ways.

• Power cable: direct connection of the scanner to the mains.
• Interchangeable batteries: power supply from replaceable batteries.
• Power bank: power supply from an external battery.

Certification and traceability

The scanner is supplied with inspection reports and calibration certificates. They are traceable to international ISO 10360 standards depending on the actually issued certificates. All calibration and verification procedures are performed by the accredited SHINING 3D Accuracy Lab, which operates in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

The scanner is compatible with most common reverse engineering and inspection software. This ensures a seamless process from CAD modelling to quality control.
