Large Format FDM 3D Printer Dowell DL 12-20
Dowell DL 12-20 is an industrial-class FDM printer designed for engineering prototyping, automotive industry, sculptural objects, and furniture production. The model has a working volume of 1200 × 1200 × 2000 mm, allowing for the production of large parts and models in one print cycle, reducing the need to divide the structure into separate parts. The extruder system with two-stage heating up to 420 °C, a declared print speed of 250–500 mm/s, and an extrusion flow up to 1000 g/h ensure high productivity when working with various types of filaments.
Construction and Movement System
The printer's frame is based on a reinforced aluminum profile with a thickness of 80 mm, ensuring the rigidity and stability of the entire structure during operation.
- X and Y Axes: movement is implemented based on a modular system that ensures the movement of the print head with a maximum declared speed of up to 500 mm/s. Positional accuracy is 0.02 mm.
- Z Axis: the drive is built using 20 mm screw shafts and motors with a gearbox. This ensures precise platform retention and stable stepping when printing massive models.
Extrusion System and Compatible Materials
The extruder is equipped with a two-stage heating system for efficient filament melting at high feed speeds.
- Temperature Parameters: the maximum nozzle temperature reaches 420 °C.
- Compatible Materials: the printer works with 2.85 mm diameter filament. The manufacturer claims support for PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, WOOD, PLA+, PP, CARBON FIBER, GLASS FIBER, and others.
- Extrusion Parameters: the system supports nozzles with diameters of 0.8, 1.2, and 1.6 mm. The combination of a large filament diameter and increased nozzles allows for the delivery of a large volume of plastic in one pass with a maximum extrusion flow of up to 1000 g/h.
Heating Platform and Automatic Locking
Even heat distribution across the entire platform surface prevents material delamination and shrinkage on the first layers of printing.
- Automatic Platform Locking: after the printing process is completed, the platform automatically locks, helping to maintain its position in case of vibrations, power outages, or external influences.
- Temperature Mode: the worktable in the standard configuration heats up to 100 °C, with an optional modification available for heating up to 150 °C, as well as the installation of a PEI coating.
Automatic Functions and Control
The 3D printer's automation systems are optimized to ensure continuous operation and convenient control:
- Automatic Platform Leveling: before starting printing, the system recognizes the table plane and automatically compensates for its tilt.
- Filament Sensor and Print Recovery: in case of filament depletion or breakage, the equipment pauses. In case of power failure, the auto-recovery function allows printing to continue from the point of interruption.
- Display and Firmware: control is carried out through a 10-inch color touchscreen with the manufacturer's proprietary software.
Remote Control and Print Settings
- Built-in Camera: allows for remote video monitoring of the printing process.
- Network Interfaces: file transfer and device management are possible via Wi-Fi, SD card, or USB drive.
- Operational Correction: directly during printing, the user can adjust speed, extrusion flow, cooling intensity, and Z-axis offset.
- Process Control: the system allows viewing G-code, monitoring temperature charts, reviewing print history, and using a physical emergency stop button if necessary.
Industrial Applications
The large working area volume and productive extrusion system make this 3D printer an optimal choice for producing large engineering models, prototypes of vehicle elements, art objects, sculptures, and furniture forms.
