IMT TA15 15–53 µm: Titanium Powder for SLM/LPBF Printing
IMT TA15 is a high-performance near-alpha titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-2Zr-1Mo-1V), designed for projects where standard Grade 5 can no longer handle temperature loads. Thanks to balanced alloying with zirconium and molybdenum, this material demonstrates impressive thermal stability and maintains performance during prolonged operation under conditions up to 500°C.
For additive manufacturing engineers, TA15 is particularly valuable due to its excellent weldability and low susceptibility to cracking during rapid cooling in the SLM printer chamber. Plasma atomization ensures high powder purity, which is a critical factor for fracture toughness and durability of finished parts.
Material Technical Profile
Chemical Composition
The alloy composition is optimized for maximum heat resistance and corrosion resistance:
- Titanium (Ti): base, providing lightness and structural strength.
- Aluminum (Al): 6.2% — primary alpha-phase strengthener.
- Zirconium (Zr): 2.0% — improves heat resistance and creep resistance.
- Vanadium (V): 2.0% — stabilizes the alloy structure.
- Molybdenum (Mo): 1.5% — increases strength at high temperatures.
- Iron (Fe): ≤ 0.25%.
- Silicon (Si): ≤ 0.15%.
- Oxygen (O): ≤ 0.10% — strict purity control to prevent embrittlement.
- Nitrogen (N): ≤ 0.02%.
- Carbon (C): ≤ 0.08%.
- Hydrogen (H): ≤ 0.015%.
Physical Characteristics of the Powder
Particle morphology is adapted for seamless printing of complex geometries:
- Particle size: 15–53 µm — ideal fraction for precise SLM systems.
- Sphericity: ≥ 90% — high rate ensures uniform layer deposition by the recoater.
- Hall Flow: ≤ 38 s/50g — ensures stable material feed without interruptions.
- Tap density: ≥ 2.4 g/cm³.
- Apparent density: ≥ 2.7 g/cm³.
- Oxygen content: ≤ 1000 ppm — indicator of premium raw material quality.
Mechanical Properties
The material maintains structural integrity even under extreme temperature conditions:
- At room temperature (20°C): the tensile strength reaches 1030–1100 MPa, with an elongation of ≥ 12%, which indicates the resistance of the parts to dynamic loads.
- At heating up to 500°C: the material maintains an impressive strength level of 690–770 MPa with an elongation of ≥ 12%.
- At critical 600°C: strength indicators remain within 590–630 MPa with an elongation of ≥ 12%.
- Endurance: at a temperature of 500°C and a constant stress of 440 MPa, the part withstands over 100 hours without failure, demonstrating an elongation of ≥ 21%.

Professional Application and Certification
The IMT TA15 powder is designed for industries where compromises on reliability are impossible:
- Aerospace industry: production of high-load brackets, fuselage parts, and interior lining elements of aircraft.
- Engine manufacturing: compressor blades and engine disks requiring high fatigue resistance at operating temperatures.
- Special equipment: body parts and assemblies operating in thermally aggressive environments.
The quality of IMT production is confirmed by leading international organizations:
- ISO 13485:2016 — quality management standard for the medical and aviation sectors.
- FDA — official safety registration of the material on the US market.
- CE — compliance with European safety and environmental standards.
- CFDA — certification for high-tech industrial use.
