3D Printer Metal3D MetalSys 180
MetalSys 180 — A small-class SLM 3D printer for small-batch production of metal parts, when the compact format is no longer sufficient, but transitioning to the medium class (e.g., 300×300×400 mm) is not yet needed. The model bridges the gap between laboratory tasks and stable production load: it offers more build area, more convenient part arrangement on the platform, and potential for increased productivity thanks to the Dual Laser option.
What MetalSys 180 is Suitable For
- Small-batch production of small metal parts, where repeatability and stable work pace are important.
- Enlarged parts or dense arrangement of multiple products in one run — thanks to the 180×180 mm platform.
- Transition from prototype to series: when the R&D stage is already passed and production is needed without moving to a larger class of equipment.
- Control series and test coupons (including test samples) as part of the production cycle.
How MetalSys 180 Differs from MetalSys 120E and MetalSys 300
Compared to MetalSys 120E: MetalSys 180 has a larger working area of 180×180×150 mm (instead of Ø120×150 mm), making it suitable when the 120E platform is no longer sufficient — larger parts or more products per run are needed. Also, the 180 features a Dual Laser option (depending on configuration), providing a productivity reserve for small-batch tasks.
Compared to MetalSys 300: MetalSys 180 is a small class with more compact dimensions and working area. It is chosen when a large build area of 300×300×400 mm and configurations like Dual / 4 laser are not needed, but stable SLM printing for production tasks is required.
Key Features and Advantages
180×180×150 mm — Working Format for "Small Production"
The rectangular build area of 180×180 mm is a practical format for serial tasks: either larger parts can be printed, or multiple products can be rationally arranged on the platform to increase the output of parts per cycle.
Dual Laser Option — Productivity Reserve
The basic configuration includes a fiber laser 200W, and Dual Laser is available as an option. This provides flexibility in choosing the configuration for the load: from stable single production to scenarios where task execution speed is important.
Precision Optics and High-Speed Scanning
- Optics: F-theta Lens / High-speed Scanner
- Scanning Speed: up to 7 m/s
- Software for Task Preparation: VoxelDance and Magics are supported for build preparation and print process organization.
