Metal 3D printing on the FX10 with the Metal Kit app
Unlock metal 3D printing on the Markforged FX10 3D printer with the Metal Kit upgrade. Metal Kit is a specially designed print head that easily replaces the composite print unit to print with filaments containing metal alloys.
As such, the Markforged FX10 industrial composite 3D printer can print both composite and metal materials. The first FX10 with metal support means manufacturers can reliably solve critical problems on the shop floor, increase profitability and productivity, and scale across teams and enterprises.
Metal Kit Features
- The FX10 Metal Kit allows metal parts to be printed on the Markforged FX10.
- Once installed, the user can easily switch between composite or metal materials.
- Requires Markforged Wash-1, Sinter-1 or Sinter-2 to further process metal parts.
- Compatible with metal materials: Markforged Stainless Steel 17-4PH v2, Markforged Stainless Steel 316L (available in Q1 2025).
- Full FX10 Metal Bundle packages are available. Contact us to discuss the best option.
Easy installation
FX10’s modular design simplifies the upgrade process. Switching between metal and composite printing is seamless. Replacing components such as the printhead and routing unit takes about 15 minutes and a short calibration print. Fully compatible with Markforged software and a choice of production materials, the FX10 is one of the best and highest quality 3D printers in the world.

Plastics
Composite Base filaments are engineering-grade materials that print using a conventional FFF (FDM-style) process. Print with them alone or with Continuous Fibers to yield strong parts. The ULTEM™ and 9085 trademarks are used under license from SABIC, its affiliates or subsidiaries.
Continuous Fiber
Continuous Fibers enable Markforged composite printers to print metal-strength parts. They cannot be used alone — however, when printed with a Composite Base, they form the backbone of a strong printed part.
