FastForm 17-4PH: High-Strength Stainless Steel for Metal 3D Printing

FastForm 17-4PH 15–53 µm is a stainless steel for 3D printing in the form of powder with spherical particles sized 15-53 µm. Available in 5 kg packaging. It is a high-strength material for 3D printing using Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology. This precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel is known for its exceptional combination of high strength, hardness, good corrosion resistance, and excellent weldability. FastForm 17-4PH is ideal for manufacturing components requiring high mechanical strength and wear resistance, finding applications in the aerospace, medical, tooling, oil and gas, and automotive industries.

Printer compatibility

Compatible with FastForm SLM 3D printers. See the specifications on this page for a list of compatible models.

Optimal Material Properties

The 17-4PH alloy, thanks to its ability to precipitation harden (through heat treatment), allows for achieving very high strength and hardness values. This makes it an excellent choice for parts subjected to significant mechanical loads and friction. It also demonstrates good corrosion resistance, comparable to 300-series stainless steels.

The powder fraction size of 15–53 micrometers is optimal for SLM processes, ensuring excellent flowability, effective melting, and the formation of dense, homogeneous layers. This contributes to high printing precision, minimal porosity, and high surface quality of finished products, which is important for final functional components.
