Black PLA CF10 Filament with Matte Surface for 3D Printing

PLA CF 10 Farm 3D is a composite filament based on PLA with carbon filling, designed for enclosures, prototypes, brackets, and other parts with moderate load. Carbon fibers give the printed surface a matte texture, and the diameter accuracy is ±0.02 mm.

Advantages of PLA CF 10 Farm 3D

  • High stiffness and strength. 10% carbon fiber filling adds resistance to deformation and bending compared to standard PLA.
  • Dimensional stability. The material is characterized by low shrinkage, which maintains the shape of finished parts and reduces corner lifting from the platform.
  • Unique surface. Carbon fibers create a matte texture with a technical look that masks the layer boundaries.
  • Ease of 3D printing. The filament prints as easily as standard PLA, ensuring high adhesion between layers when following recommended temperatures.
  • Accurate filament diameter. The diameter tolerance of 1.75 mm is ±0.03 mm, which supports uniform melt feeding.

Material and Properties of Parts

The addition of carbon fiber significantly changes the mechanical properties of the base polymer. Finished 3D models gain high resistance to bending and tensile deformation but acquire characteristic brittleness under strong impact loads.

The matte coating of finished parts minimizes the need for additional mechanical or chemical post-processing. This surface is suitable for manufacturing external decorative overlays, device facade panels, and demonstration engineering models. The material has limitations regarding thermal exposure and is not intended for use in hot environments.

Farm 3D PLA CF10 is supplied on a spool with vacuum packaging and a box for convenient storage and transportation.

Where PLA CF 10 is Used

Plastic with 10% carbon fiber is actively used in tasks where regular PLA lacks stiffness:

  • enclosures for electronic devices and controllers;
  • mounting brackets and fasteners;
  • conceptual and functional engineering prototypes;
  • educational models;
  • decorative panels and interior elements;
  • auxiliary workshop tools;
  • mechanism casing parts with moderate load.

Compatibility with 3D Printers and Nozzles

The material is designed for FDM 3D printers that work with 1.75 mm filament. To work with this filament, an extruder capable of maintaining a heating temperature from 190 °C to 230 °C and a platform heating up to 30–60 °C is required.

Due to the presence of carbon particles, the filament acts as an abrasive. Using a standard brass nozzle leads to rapid wear of its inner hole and changes in caliber. By replacing the brass nozzle with a hardened steel or ruby one, stable extrusion quality is maintained. Also, consider the intensive wear of the extruder's feed gears.

3D Printing and Storage Tips

  • Choose wear-resistant nozzles. To protect the extruder, install nozzles made of hardened steel, ruby, or tungsten with a diameter of 0.4 mm or more.
  • Store in a dry place. Keep the spool in a sealed vacuum bag with a desiccant, protecting it from direct sunlight.
  • Secure filament ends. After finishing work, secure the free end of the filament in the hole on the spool's edge to avoid tangling.
  • Dry if necessary. If the material absorbs moisture, dry the spool before printing under conditions recommended for PLA composites.
  • Adjust infill and cooling. Select the model's infill percentage based on stiffness requirements and adjust cooling for timely layer cooling.
