SHINING Einstar 2 – Portable Color 3D Scanner
EINSTAR 2 — a portable handheld 3D scanner from SHINING 3D. The device combines a hybrid lighting system (17 parallel blue laser lines + IR VCSEL), dual-mode capture (Laser HD and IR Rapid), color capture, and alignment modes. This allows for equally successful scanning of both small details and large objects.
Lightweight 3D scanner (≈420 g with battery) – wireless solution with a removable battery for up to ~3 hours of operation,
output formats STL/OBJ/PLY/3MF/ASC, and full-featured software EXStar Hub/EXModel for processing and exporting 3D data.

Hybrid Scanning
Hybrid optics (Laser HD + IR Rapid). The 17-line blue laser array provides high detail for small objects and textured surfaces; IR Rapid (VCSEL) expands the capture area and simplifies scanning of large/distant scenes, as well as facilitates work with dark and partially reflective surfaces. This combination provides versatility — from jewelry to scanning walls and furniture.
High Data Collection Speed
Data collection dynamics. High point/s speed in Laser HD is useful for capturing small details and complex geometry without jitter; IR Rapid accelerates "mass-scan" while maintaining acceptable accuracy.

Accurate Scanning in Different Conditions
Alignment and resistance to conditions. Supported alignment modes: Global Marker, Markers, Geometry, Texture, and Hybrid — this allows selecting a capture strategy for the task: markers for homogeneous or metallic objects, geometry/texture for complex shapes. The manufacturer specifies working limits for lighting for each mode.
Lightweight Color 3D Scanner SHINING
Portability and autonomy. Compact body and removable battery (~5500 mAh) provide up to several hours of operation without being tethered to power —convenience for field measurements and archaeological/construction shooting. If necessary, you can switch to USB power.

Advantages of Einstar 2 for Different Types of Scanning
- Small objects and high-detail capture (jewelry, dentistry, design): Laser HD mode provides resolution up to 0.05 mm and precise geometry of small elements.
- Medium and large objects (car parts, prototypes, antiques): wide FOV and hybrid mode allow changing strategy: detailing individual areas with Laser HD, then scanning entirely with IR Rapid.
- Architecture and interior (furniture, finishing elements): the ability to scan at a distance of up to 14 m (in suitable conditions) simplifies the capture of walls and scenes.
- Scanning complex/dark/shiny surfaces: the combination of laser and IR light increases the chances of getting stable points without extensive surface preparation (though markers/matting are still useful in extreme cases).
- Field and on-site work: lightweight body and autonomous battery make Einstar 2 convenient for craftsmen, restorers, and engineers on the go.

For What Tasks is Einstar 2 Suitable — Practical Scenarios
- Reverse engineering of individual parts and prototypes for 3D printing.
- Shape and geometry control (qualitative / quick checks of parts).
- Scanning artistic objects, exhibits, and antiques with color transfer.
- Documentation of architectural elements and interiors (fragmentary scanning of walls, furniture).
- Education, prototyping in educational and maker labs — due to ease of use and included software.

Software for Einstar 2: EXStar Hub and EXModel — Features and Capabilities
EXStar Hub — the main proprietary platform for Einstar 2, a unified interface for scanning and post-processing. Features: intuitive UI, reduced system load (performance optimization), fast visualization, built-in alignment/stitching tools, and basic mesh cleaning.
EXStar Hub serves as the "center" of the workflow and integrates with SHINING 3D's cloud capabilities and additional modules.

EXModel (optional) — a module for mesh processing and basic "reverse engineering": alignment, hole filling, mesh simplification, preparation for 3D printing,
and conversion to formats suitable for further CAD work (commercial and personal versions available).
The manufacturer regularly updates the software: versions and release notes are available in the support section.

PC Requirements (Recommendations): Windows 10/11 64-bit; recommended configuration — NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or higher graphics card with ≥6 GB VRAM; RAM at least 32 GB (64 GB recommended for large scenes). OpenGL 4.3+, USB 3.0/Type-C.
These recommendations are important for stable EXStar operation and fast processing of large point clouds.
