Markforged ULTEM 9085 Filament for High-Temperature Printing
The Markforged ULTEM 9085 3200cc filament is a high-performance PEI thermoplastic specifically designed for aerospace applications. With its exceptional properties of extreme strength, flame resistance, low smoke emission, and non-toxicity (FST), this material ensures reliability and safety in the most demanding conditions. Compatible with carbon continuous fibers.
Available on Markforged XL spools with a volume of 3200 cc and is a traceable material.
Main Characteristics of ULTEM 9085
- High-temperature polymer for 3D printing.
- Safety: flame resistance, low smoke emission, and non-toxicity (FST).
- Can be reinforced with CFR technology - enhancing strength with continuous fibers.
- Spool volume: 3200 cc - reduces the frequency of material replacement.
- Color: black.
Additionally, this filament expands the application areas of Markforged's CFR (Continuous Filament Reinforcement) technology. CFR is a printing technology where continuous fiber (such as fiberglass or carbon fiber) is added to the base plastic to enhance the strength of parts. When combining CFR with ULTEM™, even stronger, lighter, and more heat-resistant components can be produced, meeting the demands of the aerospace industry.
Compatibility
- Printer compatibility: Markforged FX20.
- Filament compatibility: Carbon Fiber HT, Carbon Fiber HT-A.
Strengthening Technology
Markforged ULTEM 9085 is compatible with CFR (Continuous Filament Reinforcement) technology - strengthening with continuous carbon fibers HT and HT-A, making it ideal for material qualification and production printing.
Application Areas
ULTEM 9085 filament is an excellent choice for aerospace, automotive, and oil industries in rapid manufacturing.
- Manufacturing tools for high-temperature applications.
- Aircraft interior panels.
- Mounts, handles, and buttons for aviation.
- Custom pipelines and composite molds.

Plastics
Composite Base filaments are engineering-grade materials that print using a conventional FFF (FDM-style) process. Print with them alone or with Continuous Fibers to yield strong parts. The ULTEM™ and 9085 trademarks are used under license from SABIC, its affiliates or subsidiaries.
Continuous Fiber
Continuous Fibers enable Markforged composite printers to print metal-strength parts. They cannot be used alone — however, when printed with a Composite Base, they form the backbone of a strong printed part.
