Description
UltiMaker Tough PLA Filament for 3D Printers
The UltiMaker Tough PLA filament is a highly durable material that is easy to use and designed for producing functional prototypes and tools. It is optimized for printing large parts. Along with the safe and easy use typical of regular PLA, it offers similar strength and greater stiffness compared to ABS.
Tough PLA can be combined with UltiMaker PVA and Breakaway support filaments.
- Better machinability than regular PLA allows for more post-processing methods.
- Strength comparable to ABS but with higher stiffness.
- No delamination or warping, making it suitable for printing larger parts.
- Compatible with PVA and Breakaway support materials for complete geometric freedom.

Compatibility
Tough PLA is officially supported by the UltiMaker S5, UltiMaker S3, and UltiMaker 3 series of 3D printers. It is compatible for dual extrusion with the following materials: UltiMaker Tough PLA, UltiMaker PVA, and UltiMaker Breakaway.
Applications of UltiMaker Tough PLA
Due to its properties, UltiMaker Tough PLA is an excellent solution for functional prototyping, 3D printing various tools, and production aids.
- Print Strong Plastic Parts
Tough PLA’s impact strength is closer to ABS than regular PLA. This means your 3D printed parts can be used for more functional applications such as fixtures, jigs, and tools.
- Optimized for Large Printed Parts
If you need strength in large models, Tough PLA is an easy-to-print and reliable material, ideal for the S series 3D printers with large build volumes.
- Achieve Complex Geometries
Designs with intricate curves, fine details, and overhangs can be easily printed with Tough PLA, especially when combined with Breakaway or water-soluble PVA support.
