3D-Printed Hat Inspired by Architecture
The latest work from Zaha Hadid Architects is the H-Line hat, designed by the head and employee Patrick Schumacher, created using 3D printing. Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) recently developed a 3D-printed hat for a fundraising event organized by the friends of High Line, a non-profit organization that oversees the park's maintenance. The goal of the event was to raise 98% of the annual budget for park maintenance. ZHA director Patrick Schumacher designed the H-Line hat, drawing inspiration from the recently completed villas near New York's High Line.
The resulting blue-and-white hat was printed using nylon and featured protruding shapes. It also includes diagonal cutouts that mimic the metal window frames of the building.

For those unfamiliar with the High Line, it opened in 2009, transforming a once-abandoned railway line into a beautiful park. As a result, new 3D-printed buildings are rising around it, including the 520 West 28th Street building. It is the only building in New York designed by Zaha Hadid herself, who passed away in 2016. The building consists of 11 floors of luxury apartments housing 39 private residences. Some of the specially made hats for the event will be auctioned to raise funds for the nonprofit organization.
